more than 60 000 artisanal companies for a total sales turnover of 8
million euros. The maintenance and the improvement of the
habitat represent 71 % of the sales turnover of craft industry PVR.
The building moves back, after several flourishing years.
However, the development of the markets of the restoration
continues. The BTP will profit from the renewal until December
31 2003 of a fall of the VAT to 5,5 % on the work of improvement,
transformation and maintenance of the residences. In addition,
the evolutions structural of the population (ageing and single-parent
families) support the request for odd jobs in urban environment.
Nearly three customers out of four are private individuals.
The syndics of joint ownership and the managers of buildings
constitute a potential market with a future. They seek
general-purpose craftsmen for occasional work in the common parts.
The cost and the times of intervention will make the difference.

| Your principal factor of success: fidéliser
customers by advising it and by reassuring it. The word of mouth
is your best publicity, then are vigilant on all! A prospective
customer will appreciate that you point out the assistances to him of
which it can profit for maintenance from his housing. Moreover,
do not neglect the cleaning of the building site... The creator
can settle either as independent craftsman and develop a logic of
network, to aim at the subcontracting of companies of the building, or
to choose a contract of frankness.

| It is possible at the beginning to work at home.
The investment is moderate (toolbox, scale, trestles, portable
telephone, fax, computer, printer), of 6 000 euros on average,
for which it is necessary to add the cost of a professional vehicle
and the requirements in working capital (two to three months of sales
turnover at the beginning). To carry on the activities of
glassmaking, of painting and floor covering, the craftsman must be
titular of a CAPE or BEP (or another diploma approved equivalent), or
justify of three years a professional experience in the same exercise.
The standards to be respected evolve to more safety and of
hygiene. |
